Hey, this is just a letter from one of my friends back at school. Just thought you guys might find it an interesting read. See ya'! ~TK PS. Please help us all pray! PPS. A bit of history on this, is they are trying to start a second Christian church in Bangkok. (There is only one, and it is a house church) They are trying to put one on the campus of the university there. They're just doing a bit of getting to know the people around there for now. Only .02% of people there are Christians. Kinda sad, no? PPS. I'm going to go see if I can go on the next mission to help set up the church in June. So if you guys could help me pray that my parents find some understanding, that would be apreciated too. hello all! some of you probably didn't know this, but i was just in Bangkok, Thailand for 7 days. it was AMAZING! we left for Bangkok on saturday, Dec. 14. we flew to LA, then Taipei, Taiwan, and then into Bangkok. we arrived in Bangkok at about 2 in the morning on Dec. 16. so basically we time travelled. :o) Bangkok is 14 hours ahead of us (from new mexico). after sleeping a few hours, we got up the next morning and went to the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. the architecture was absolutely amazing... but it was heartbreaking to see so many people bowing to a god made by human hands. i just cried when i saw the parents teaching their little children to pray and burn incense... the rest of the week was spent on one of the 30+ college campuses in bangkok. there are over 11 million people in this city, and 1 in 10 of them are university students. our team of 6 worked at DPU(don't ask me what it was in thai, i have no idea!!)for 4 days. in those 4 days we built friendships with dozens of Thai students, were able to share the gospel with many that had NEVER heard it before in their lives, and led one girl to the Lord. on this campus of 20,000 students we know of 5 Christians, and our baptist student union will adopt this university to send missionaries over the next few years. we arrived home yesterday, Dec. 23 at about 6:30pm. all our luggage was lost but thank the Lord, it all came in on another flight (Breanne was still waiting for one bag when i had to leave... i hope she got it!!). please pray that God will protect the seeds that have been planted in this city... it is one of the only cities of its size in the 10-40 window that is open to Christians sharing the gospel. all the neighboring countries strictly prohibit/persecute Christianity, and so effecting Bangkok is a gateway into effecting the rest of southeast asia. i will send more updates as i have them. pray for the salvation of a few of my new friends: Bo Wi Nan Nadia Pick Gam and for the Christian friends that i have made: Nid (her mother has forbidden her to go to church) Tae Paul Wuan Tum (she is the one that accepted Christ this week)pray also for Tim Owens and his family as they work in Bangkok as missionaries for their 16th year. merry Christmas to you all, i hope you have a wonderful day remembering the birth of our Savior. ~Ashley
